Out of TERA’s battlegrounds, Corsair’s Stronghold has the most promise yet needs the most work to help make it more fun and to bring more players into it. Right now it is utilized mostly just for the daily quests, rather than as a way to get a break from the grind or otherwise get some enjoyment.

Bringing About Short Timers

We could argue that the short timers are good (15 minutes) because they help get the match over with faster, but with the way the map is set up it really isn’t that good. To help counter the timers, there are a few things that could be done:

• Offer less defensive structures in the castle

• Lower the health of gates

• Speed up the run to the castle

All of these would help decrease the amount of time it takes in order to progress through the match. In a lot of cases, it takes upwards of 10+ minutes just to break through the two gates and enter the area with the crystal. In some cases it can be done faster, but 10+ seems to be the average.

Airships Should Have Leaders

The first player to get into an airship should become the one in control of it. A lot of the time, one of the players will just jump in the ship while everyone’s trying to organize and they’ll set it off. The worst part about this is that there is no way to tell who actually chose to send it off; there is absolutely no accountability or method of punishing whoever that person is, and it is essentially a form of griefing that people use. While it may not be a huge deal to some players, it can get quite annoying and can often be the difference between a side winning or losing the battle.

Conclusion

The sieging system within TERA is pretty cool, but it has been needing some changes for quite a while now. There have been problems with it since the beginning of its release, and they have continued to today. To really get players involved in the battleground and enhance the amount of fun and rewards they are earning, keeping up with how to make the battle fairer is of utmost importance.
