Destiny players will want to jump into the game to check out the massive number of changes brought about in the v2.0 update released today. The patch prepares the way for The Taken King expansion that is coming to Destiny on September 15th.

Players can expect the following, among a much larger list of changes, alterations and feature enhancements:

level cap increase to 34, with up to level 40 after the expansion release next week
level and light are now separate stats
weapon and gear have been 'normalized' for attack power to prepare for The Taken King
several class balance and skill updates
