The saga between Crytek and Cloud Imperium Games, they of Star Citizen, seemingly never ends.If you’re just catching up, Crytek had filed for a dismissal earlier this month from their lawsuit which claimed that CIG developed Star Citizen in CryEngine 3 without a license to do so, thus breaching contract. CIG, for their part, claims that by switching to Lumberyard, Amazon’s engine which is built upon CryEngine, there should be no breach.In the ongoing saga, a deadline of January 24 was set for CIG to respond. It seems they have done so, but also requested a dismissal with a payment of $500,000, with the company stating,“The real reason Crytek wants to walk away from its SQ42 claim is because Crytek can no longer delay the inevitable reckoning that its claim is and has always been meritless.”The fact that Crytek requested a delay to the suit until after Squadron 42 launches proves Crytek, “concedes CIG's long-argued point that no breach could even theoretically occur until actual game release," according to CIG.Ta, GamesIndustry.biz.
